Grant Update

Grant Update

This week we were awarded a Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Grant from the California Department of Food and Agriculture to help us expand our vegetable production to schools and retailers within 50 miles of our farm in Ahwahnee.

With the grant we will purchase a refrigerated van. The van will help us, especially in the summer, from the point of harvest at Sierra Cider, through the delivery process to schools and shops throughout the mountain communities where access to fresh, local vegetables are often not available or unaffordable. As we look to expand our offerings by 200%+ in 2025 we have a lot of infrastructure to add, the van being a key component towards that goal.

A huge thank you to the team at the Community Alliance with Family Farmers who provided us with our grant writer, Frances. She was fantastic to work with and did an amazing job. Also thank you to the CDFA’s RSFI team as well as the CDFA Grants office for believing in our small farm’s mission.
